Welcome To 1st Cold Ash Scout Troop
1st Cold Ash is a thriving and rapidly growing co-educational Scout section, We currently
have around 30 Scouts and five adult leaders. We aim to promote the values of Scouting
combined with fun and adventurous activities. The troop meets on a Thursday evening in
Acland Community Hall, Cold Ash and welcomes new members from surrounding areas
around Cold Ash. If you would like to enquire about joining please get in touch.
The Scout Section is for young people, usually aged between 10 and 14 years. A young
person can come in to the troop at 10 and may stay until they are 14½ years old. The
Scout Troop is the third and final Section in the Scout Group, once a Scout reaches the
age of 14 he or she may chose to become a member of the Taceham Hundred District
Explorer Scout Unit, Axford.
Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their
programme. The Scout section is typically run by the Scouts for the benefit of the Scouts.
With a focus on participation, as part of team, a patrol. We emphasis "Fun Learning"
within the Scout section to encourage leadership, sense of community, care for others,
skills and confidence building. Recognition for these achievements is recognised through
a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges.
Cold Ash Scouting Group run a balanced programme with particular focus on
adventurous outdoor pursuits including, traditional scouting skills, bush walking, camping,
survival, and canoeing. During these activities we encourage our Scouts to know their
own abilities, and explore their values and personal attitudes.
At 1st Cold Ash, Scouting is about being with friends, as part of a team, participating fully
in the adventure and the opportunities of life, playing an active part as a member of the
worldwide family of Scouting.
